Optical skyrmions, in which all polarization states mapped on the Poincaré sphere are projected onto the beam cross-section, have attracted much attention as analogous magnetic skyrmions. We herein report on the first demonstration of direct imprinting of the polarization textures of optical skyrmions onto an azo-polymer thin film by irradiating the optical skyrmion generated by a single-path self-referencing interferometer with a spatial light modulator (SLM).
