Dr. Yasushi Shimo is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at Juntendo University Nerima Hospital. He earned his medical degree from Juntendo University School of Medicine in 1994 and completed his neurology residency at Juntendo University Hospital in 1998.
Dr. Shimo advanced his studies in neurophysiology under Professor Okihide Hikosaka at the Department of Physiology, Juntendo University, as a graduate student. From 2002 to 2004, he further honed his expertise in neurophysiological research as a postdoctoral fellow at Emory University, USA, under the mentorship of Professors Mahlon R. Delong and Thomas Wichmann.
Dr. Shimo’s research centers on the basal ganglia's role in movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease. He has made significant contributions to clinical research on motor complications and deep brain stimulation, collaborating with leading research institutes to develop innovative therapeutic strategies for movement disorders.
