A July 2024 web survey of 800 Japanese women aged 18–79 analyzed attitudes toward ALPS-treated water, scientific information, and Fukushima seafood. Principal component and cluster analyses identified three consumer groups: strong, medium, and weak fear of risks like radiation. The high-average-age group with strong fears and the medium-fear group valued scientific information and were willing to buy Fukushima seafood if safety was confirmed. In contrast, the low-fear group, mostly younger individuals, did not find scientific information useful and showed little willingness to purchase Fukushima seafood.
