In order to dispose the post-experiment waste oils and solutions containing plutonium (Pu) generated in the research and development of nuclear fuels (nitrides, carbides and metals) in a stable state, the conditions for solidification of the waste oils and solutions after recovery of Pu were investigated. The waste oils such as cutting oils were heated at 353 K and mixed with 60 vol% of an oil solidifier mainly composed of 12-hydroxystearic acid, and cooled to room temperature. The waste solutions was mixed with a plaster in weight ratio of 1:1 and stirred. As the results of the experiments, the waste oils and solutions were wholly solidified. The recovered Pu was converted to oxides by heating in air at 923 K.
