TCU-Tandem is currently using a PIG-type negative ion source. The beam current is about 1 µA before the acceleration tube injection. Basically, only hydrogen negative ions are used as accelerating particles. Although a PIG-type negative ion source provides sufficient beam intensity for PIXE, it is difficult to apply it to experiments that require higher beam intensity, such as proton irradiation experiments. Therefore, we aimed to obtain higher beam intensity by introducing Cesium Sputtering Type Negative Ion Source. Each parameter of the Cesium Sputtering Type Negative Ion Source and the beam current were measured. The contribution of each parameter to the beam current was confirmed. Cesium Sputtering Type Negative Ion Source was studied for introduction into TCU-Tandem.
