In the decommissioning work of the nuclear plant, lead sheets used as radiation shielding material are generated as waste. These lead sheets are very difficult to dispose of because they are difficult to cut with normal tools. In this research, we devised a technique that combines mechanical cutting technique and low melting point alloy. In order to cut lead sheets efficiently and precisely using this method, we devised a method of supplying a low-melting-point alloy to the lead sheets in a paste form, and developed a Bi-Sn alloy paste for cutting lead. In this research, we conducted a comparative verification test using two commercially available types of reciprocating saw blades used in the mechanical cutting method, and found the optimal shape of the reciprocating saw blade for this method.
