The 7th Annual Meeting of The eDNA Society

Congress President
Noriyuki KOIZUMI, Ph.D.

National Agriculture and Food Research Organization(NARO)

The Society of Environmental DNA was established in 2018 to foster and develop environmental DNA studies as a discipline that contributes to the well-being of humanity as a whole, including the sustainable use of ecosystems and environmental conservation. The society has been actively exchanging information among its members. Our membership encompasses various specialties in ecology, genetics, physics, chemistry, agriculture, engineering, medicine, and information science, as well as ecology and genetics related to environmental DNA studies. We communicate through technical seminars and various lectures at the annual conference.

We are pleased to announce that the 7th Annual Meeting of the Environmental DNA Society will be held in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, from Novemver 30 to December 4, 2024. Under the slogan "More accessible with Environmental DNA," the conference aims to make further contributions to solving issues such as loss of biodiversity and invasive alien species problems. Participants from Japan and abroad will come together to provide an important forum for discussion and exchange of information for deepening research on environmental DNA and its implementation in society. We will also plan online presentations by junior high and high school students and public symposiums to demonstrate the importance and potential of environmental DNA studies not only to researchers but also to the general public, including junior high and high school students. We hope that this conference will serve as an effective platform for deepening the understanding of environmental DNA studies and disseminating its potential applications to the public, with the aim of advancing science and technology and contributing to society.

Tsukuba City, the venue of this conference, is known as the center of science and technology in Japan and is home to many national and private research institutes. On the other hand, the city also has a rich natural environment with beautiful parks and vast farmlands. Mt. Tsukuba, the symbol of the city, is called "Mt. Fuji in the west and Mt. Tsukuba in the east", and its scenery can be enjoyed in all four seasons. In this environment, we sincerely welcome you to present your new findings and deepen the discussion.
