佐渡金銀山では金銀産出量の減少にともない、作業の効率化や人件費削減策などが進められた。本報告では、そのような状況を具体的に理解するため、江戸時代後期の佐渡金銀山における稼働間歩（青盤、鳥越、中尾など）の状況と変遷、それらに投入された金穿大工をはじめとする坑内労働者数や彼らの賃金などについて、鉱山技術書を中心とする文献史料から検討した。
