In March 2024, Japanese Pharmaceutical Science Federation of (JPSF) conducted a stakeholder survey addressing the seven key requests in the "Ph.D. Human Resource Development and Utilization Plan" issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The results of this survey were presented at the 2nd Founding Commemoration Forum held in March 2025. During the forum, the findings were reported, and opinions were exchanged through a panel discussion. Currently, JPSF is preparing to issue its first official Report summarizing the key challenges and proposed measures for developing and promoting pharmaceutical Ph.D. talent, as discussed in the forum. This symposium is a joint symposium with the JPSF. Its objectives are to introduce the critical points of this "Report," and to have speakers present on the ideal role models for pharmaceutical science doctoral holders in pharmaceutical companies and medical institutions, as well as the challenges universities must address to increase the enrollment rate. Furthermore, this symposium is positioned as a joint event with the Graduate Student Symposium held consecutively at the same venue. After the lecture sessions of both symposia conclude, a joint panel discussion will be held. This discussion will include the panelists from this symposium and doctoral students who presented at the Graduate Student Symposium with the aim of exchanging views on the outlook for pharmaceutical science doctoral human resource development.
