Fri. Mar 27, 2026 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM JST
Fri. Mar 27, 2026 12:30 AM - 2:30 AM UTC
Room 16 (A101, Bldg. 1, Area 3 [1F])
Organizer: Hiroshi Morioka (Grad. Sch. Pharm. Sci. Kumamoto Univ.), Joe Inoue (Leave a nest Co. Ltd., Fac. Pharm. Kumamoto Univ., Fac. Pharm. Keio Univ.), Tatsunori Hirotsu (CyDing Co. Ltd., Fac. Pharm. Kumamoto Univ.)
Pharmaceutical sciences is a uniquely comprehensive discipline, covering fundamental fields such as chemistry, biology, and physics, as well as applied areas including clinical practice and regulatory science. Researchers and pharmacists trained in pharmaceutical sciences are recognized experts in healthcare and life sciences, thus possess substantial potential to contribute across diverse societal domains. However, this potential is not yet fully realized, and students have limited opportunities to explore the wide range of future possibilities and perspectives.
In this context, entrepreneurship education plays a crucial role. While often associated with starting a business, we adopt a broader definition: the mindset and skills to proactively address challenges and solve societal issues. By acquiring entrepreneurial competencies, pharmaceutical professionals can achieve significant impact in an even more diverse array of fields.
The first half of this symposium will highlight the importance of entrepreneurship and present educational initiatives at various universities, along with pitch-style presentations illustrating students' experiences and changes in perspectives. In the second half, a panel discussion with diverse guest speakers will examine current challenges in pharmaceutical education and explore directions for its future development.
