[S08★☆]Nutrient Functions and Pharmacological Applications: Evidence-Based Disease Prevention

Fri. Mar 27, 2026 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM JST
Fri. Mar 27, 2026 12:30 AM - 2:30 AM UTC
Room 19 (A301, Bldg. 1, Area 3 [3F])
Organizer: Kimie Nakagawa (Fac. Pharm. Sci., Kobe Gakuin Univ.), Megumi Tago (Fac. Pharm., Keio Univ.)
Nutrients are essential for homeostasis and metabolic regulation in the body, and their functions are important from a pharmacological perspective. In recent years, molecular and epidemiological methods have revealed that certain nutrients are involved in the prevention and suppression of disease progression, and their application in the medical and health fields is expected. Although pharmacology is often considered to focus on drug development, pharmacological action, and formulation research, the elucidation of the relationship between the bioactivity of nutrients and disease opens up new possibilities for disease prevention and health support. In this symposium, the latest findings on physiological functions and molecular mechanisms of nutrients and biofactors, including vitamins, and their relationship with diseases will be presented from various aspects of basic, clinical, and epidemiological research. Through approaches from each perspective, we would like to explore the possibility of evidence-based disease prevention and provide an opportunity to discuss future prospects for disease prevention through the integration of nutrition and pharmacology.
