It has been 20 years since the introduction of the six-year pharmaceutical education program in 2006. During this period, pharmaceutical education and research, particularly in clinical fields, have made notable progress, though they remain in a developmental stage. The fact that eligibility for the national pharmacist examination is limited to graduates of the six-year program underscores the significance of this system, reflecting the high level of specialization and responsibility for pharmacists. Pharmaceutical sciences (PS), as an academic discipline, is a comprehensive science that covers a wide range of areas, from the molecular and cellular levels to individual and population ones, as well as pharmaceutical policy, legal regulations, and social system. This symposium will feature five presenters with diverse career paths stemming from a background in PS: a hospital pharmacist, a pharmacist officer in the Self-Defense Forces, a researcher at a national institute, a former member of a forensic science laboratory, and an entrepreneur. Through sharing their experiences and perspectives, we will discuss the potential and appeal of PS on current issues in pharmaceutical education and future prospects. This event aims to provide an inspiring opportunity for young researchers, educators, undergraduate and graduate students, and even junior and senior high school students to experience "Eenen! (cool!)" of PS. The symposium is co-hosted by the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan and the Japan Society of Pharmaceutical Education.
