In this work, we present an on-going project to create a visual topic map for battery related research. This project aims at facilitating exploratory search by maximizing information absorbance, and intuitive capturing of the research trend in the battery related research. In addition, the topic map can connect researchers with similar research interest and thus suggesting potential collaborators.
We use an open global catalog named OpenAlex to collect large amount of research publications related to battery materials reseaerch. Each publication is tagged with multiple concepts using automatic classifier. In addition, we use a pre-trained large language model, named KeyBERT, to extract further keywords from the work abstract. Using these concepts and the extracted keywords, we formulate a vector for each researcher that represents the research output. This vector is then visualized using word cloud technique.
