A common feature of superlattices is that their thermal conductivity initially decreases and then increases toward the bulk value as the period lengthens, typically attributed to a transition from coherent to incoherent phonon transport [1,2]. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, especially as increased band folding in the phonon dispersion with longer periods suggests enhanced coherence. This work investigates the role of coherence in two-dimensional graphene/h-BN superlattices, aiming to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms governing thermal transport in these systems.
