In this study, we designed and evaluated thin-film multilayer structures that exhibit unidirectional absorption of light in the near-infrared region by non-Hermitian control. Graphite (C) was used as the high-loss material and calcium fluoride (CaF2) as the low-loss material. The calculations confirmed unidirectional absorption at wavelengths of 1-3 µm, with absorption rates of more than 90% for forward incidence and less than 60% for backward incidence. From the analysis of the power spectrum and its differential spectrum, it is concluded that this unidirectional absorption is due to the non-Hermite property. From the above results, it is concluded that the unidirectional non-Hermitian multilayer structure with low/high loss materials was designed and the unidirectional absorption in the near-infrared region was confirmed computationally.
