A major challenge in high-power Er:YAP lasers is that up to ~40% of the pump power is converted into heat [1], inducing a significant temperature difference () within the crystal. This leads to thermal lensing, mechanical stress, and degraded beam quality (elevated ), ultimately limiting pump power to avoid fracture risks. To address this, we conducted steady-state 3D thermal simulation of a cylindrical Er:YAP crystal embedded in a copper holder, quantify and evaluating thermal management schemes under various pump conditions.
