This study presents the simulation of a metalens structure designed with extended depth of focus (EDOF) characteristics for potential intraocular applications. A planar metalens was developed to focus green light, chosen for its high visual sensitivity in the human eye. The lens geometry, including focal length and aperture size, was proportionally scaled from the human crystalline lens based on the Liou and Brennan eye model. To achieve the EDOF effect, the optical phase profile includes a cubic phase term that enables stable imaging performance across an extended axial range. The design was evaluated using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, and simulation results showed that varying the cubic phase coefficient significantly influences axial focusing behavior. The proposed structure exhibits promising potential for integration into implantable ophthalmic optics, offering enhanced tolerance to defocus and improved imaging depth.
