phosphors
Samarium-doped niobate phosphors were synthesized via a high-temperature solid-state route with varying Sm3+ concentrations. X-ray diffraction confirmed a stable tetragonal tungsten bronze structure, unaffected by Sm3+ doping due to similar ionic radii of Sm3+ and La3+. Photoluminescence spectra showed sharp transitions characteristic of Sm3+, with optimal emission at 7.0 mol% doping; higher concentrations led to quenching. The chromaticity coordinates (CIE 1931) indicated high color purity (98.5%–99.0%), making these phosphors suitable for optoelectronic and display applications. This study highlights a systematic route to develop efficient red-emitting Sm3+-doped niobate phosphors with potential commercial utility.
