Antiferromagnetic insulator NiO has been extensively studied because of its long spin current transmission length, but the underlying physical mechanisms are still controversial. In this work, we investigate spin current transmission in epitaxial NiO(001) films by measuring thermo-spin effects in Pt/NiO/CoFeB trilayers. Interestingly, the transmission efficiency represented by Aodd/js in epitaxial films shows unconventional dependence on both the NiO and Pt thicknesses (tNiO and tPt). tNiO dependence of Aodd/js shows a pronounced peak at tNiO = 10 nm, suggesting enhanced antiferromagnetic ordering. Moreover, an unexpected oscillation-like behavior of Aodd/js as a function of tPt is observed, which we attribute to changes in structural or magnetic properties of NiO influenced by the underlying Pt. Our results provide new insights into the spin transport mechanism in antiferromagnetic NiO.
