We have investigated the upcycling of Corchorus olitorius (Molokhia), which contains highly viscous aqueous components, as a polymer flocculant for wastewater treatment, and have advanced its practical implementation in chemical and semiconductor plants. However, although Molokhia is a renewable resource, it is also an edible plant, and therefore we have pursued the exploration of non-edible raw materials. In this study, we focused on Corchorus capsularis (Jute) leaves, which are treated as post-harvest residues in India, and found that they exhibit properties comparable to or even superior to those of Molokhia. This paper reports these findings.
