RESEARCH SUMMARY

Sarosh Irani is a clinician-scientist who established the Oxford Autoimmune Neurology Group and is now Professor of Neurology and Neurosciences at the Mayo Clinic, Florida. His contributions to the field include the discovery of LGI1 and CASPR2 antibodies, their related phenotypes in particular faciobrachial dystonic seizures, their HLA associations and the immunology underlying autoimmune encephalitis and neuromyelitis optica syndromes. His work highlights clinical phenotypes and characterizes the cellular immunology underlying these conditions towards disease causation and cure. He has a H-index of 64, has published over 200 peer-reviewed publications and is Associate Editor at the journal Brain.
