[HT-02]ホットトピックス02 International collaboration in 2025: autoimmune encephalitis and its related disorders

This symposium aims to shed light on update 2025 of clinical and research issues of 'autoimmune encephalitis (AE) and its related disorders' based on international collaboration. The presenters will revisit the progress of basic research and clinical issues for 'AE and its related diseases' through international collaboration (US, Taiwan, and Japan). It will map the global research landscape, clarify the differences derived from genetic/environmental factors and pharmaceutical regulations, and provide the evolution of research topics, including neuroscience and new clinical practice guidelines for 'AE and its related disorders'. Each presenter's talks (95 min) will be followed by panel discussion (25 min).

[HT-02-1]Autoimmune encephalitis and NMOSD: translational immunological findings

Sarosh R. Irani (Department of Neurology, Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida)
Sarosh R Irani BMBCh MA (Oxon) DPhil FRCP
• Professor of Neurology and Neurosciences, Mayo Clinic Florida
• MRC Senior Clinical Fellow, University of Oxford
• Associate Editor @Brain

RESEARCH SUMMARY

Sarosh Irani is a clinician-scientist who established the Oxford Autoimmune Neurology Group and is now Professor of Neurology and Neurosciences at the Mayo Clinic, Florida. His contributions to the field include the discovery of LGI1 and CASPR2 antibodies, their related phenotypes in particular faciobrachial dystonic seizures, their HLA associations and the immunology underlying autoimmune encephalitis and neuromyelitis optica syndromes. His work highlights clinical phenotypes and characterizes the cellular immunology underlying these conditions towards disease causation and cure. He has a H-index of 64, has published over 200 peer-reviewed publications and is Associate Editor at the journal Brain.
