Since the decontamination factor is highly dependent on bubble diameter, it is important to understand the effect of the gas-liquid interface on the removal effectiveness. In this study, the decontamination factor was measured when the bubble diameter varied from 0 to 4.0cm. The experimental and calculated values of the decontamination factor at a bubble diameter of 1.0 to 1.5 cm were in agreement. No outstandingly large bubble volume values were observed for any of the diameters. Therefore, it was considered that bubbles of a certain size did not dominate, but that all bubbles affected each other in the removal effect, with the intermediate size bubbles of 1.0 to 1.5cm in diameter having the greatest effect on the decontamination factor.
