An introduction to the Ocean Biomolecular Observing Network (OBON)
We have seen a very rapid uptake of eDNA use for many environmental applications. This has resulted from a combination of the excitement of the scientific community for this technique, the usefulness of the data for biodiversity needs and the potential ease of use for non-specialists. The Ocean Biomolecular Observing Network was formed to serve both the science and the applications communities that are interested in eDNA and other biomolecular techniques by fostering method and technique development, tools for use, capacity development, and by sponsoring opportunities to convene the international community of biomolecular scientists.
