The development of efficient and environmentally friendly lead-free perovskite solar cells remains a critical challenge in the field of photovoltaics. Two-dimensional (2D) and quasi-2D Dion–Jacobson (D–J) tin perovskites offer a promising solution due to their reduced ion migration and improved ambient stability. This study investigates two diammonium-based spacer cations with distinct molecular structures, 3-aminopyridine (3-AMPY) and 3-aminopiperidine (3-AMP), to examine how differences in ring rigidity, hydrogen bonding potential, and electron-donating functionality affect the phase formation, morphology, optical properties, and device performance of tin D–J perovskites.
