Purpose: In the Fifth Education Promotion Plan, the concept of future education was presented as improving wellbeing rooted in Japanese society. It is also widely recognized that the ultimate goal of science and technology is wellbeing. What, then, should be the role of education and research on wellbeing in higher education, especially in engineering education?
