[1G14]Defect Cluster Suppression by Nano-Oxides in 12Cr ODS Steels Under Helium Ion Irradiation

This study aims to evaluate the impact of nano-oxides in 12Cr ODS steels on the formation of irradiation-induced defects. Recrystallized 12Cr ODS steels and a 12Cr 2W 0.3Ti Fe alloy were subjected to 160 He ion irradiation at room temperature, achieving a peak damage of 1 dpa. Using TEM, the size and density of dislocation loops and voids were meticulously examined. The results revealed that while both dislocation loops and voids formed in the 12Cr 2W 0.3Ti Fe alloy, only dislocation loops were observed in the 12Cr ODS steels, with voids being absent or below detection limits. This indicates that nano oxides in ODS steels significantly suppress void formation and reduce loop density, enhancing their sink strength for irradiation-induced defects.
