We developed an ion trap-laser cooling spectrometer (ITLCS) for Sr-90 trace analysis, enabling selective excitation of Sr-90 ions via resonance ionization, followed by QMS-based mass selection and successful laser cooling in the ion trap. To enhance ion transport efficiency, we introduced an ion guide system between the QMS and ion trap, designing two conical octupole ion guides with custom RF-DC power supplies. Helium gas was introduced into the ion guide’s gas cell to induce collision-based ion deceleration. Experimental results demonstrated effective control of ion transmission by RF/DC voltages and helium gas, providing valuable insights into the optimization of ion guides for laser cooling-ion trap systems.
