Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is vital for diagnosing cancer, heart disease, and neurological disorders. Enhancing Depth of Interaction (DOI) accuracy in PET detectors improves spatial resolution by reducing parallax errors, which blur images, especially in larger objects. Traditional solutions, such as segmented scintillators and 3D crystal arrays, offer precision but are costly and complex. To address these challenges, we explored the Double Side Readout (DSR) method with cost-effective monolithic crystals. Using an 8×8 SiPM array (2 mm pixels) paired with a 16×16 YAP scintillator array (0.9 mm pixels), phase-shifting techniques achieved quarter-pixel sampling, enhancing spatial resolution to 1 mm without denser configurations. Coincidence experiments with Cs-137 validated the technique, showing consistent spectral peaks. By integrating dual-side readout, signals from both sides of the scintillator were captured and correlated, significantly improving DOI measurement accuracy and image clarity, demonstrating a practical and efficient solution for advanced PET imaging.
