The debris bed formation in the coolant has a considerable impact on the thermal convection in the Core Disruptive Accidents (CDA). To replicate this multiphase system, CGDEM-CFD with refined grid model is utilized. The study demonstrates the advantages of the model in the simulation of debris bed formation, and exhibits the feasibility of the numerical model for further investigation of the material relocation in CDA.
