[15a-P06-10]Development of Encapsulant-less Vertical Photovoltaic Modules

An encapsulant-less vertical module design prototype was developed for building-integrated photovoltaic applications. Mini-modules were designed in Shapr3d and 3d printed using a Raise3D printer with 1.75 mm PLA filament. Electrical characterization was performed to measure 1-sun illuminated Current-density—voltage(J-V) curves and the EQE spectra of the Al-BSF cells in the module, and compared with the values of the bare cells. Comparison of the J-V curves yield promising results, a <1% difference in the current density and a 1.76% reduction in the open-circuit voltage (Voc). Future direction will focus on upscaling and alternative material fabrication of the vertical module.
