In this work, by using liquid crystal polarization grating, a measurement system for the time-dependent variation of circular dichroism (CD) penetration rates was realized. This system features high precision in CD measurement, spatial resolution, and stability. Using this system, we analyzed the phase transition behavior of several cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) samples with varying thicknesses and concentrations. In addition, as theoretically expected, the CD value is directly related to thickness. For samples with the same thickness but different concentrations, the CD values remain the same, though the phase transition positions vary. Conversely, for samples with the same concentration but different thicknesses, the phase transition positions remain unchanged, while the CD values vary. In a conclusion, this system provides insights that were previously unattainable, such as determining the optical rotation components within the light, the degree of diffraction impurity, the presence of a secondary phase transition point, and the remaining CD value.
