The presentation will discuss the efficacy and safety profile of antidiabetic drugs (with a focus on SGLT2-inhibitors and GLP1-RAs) in heart failure patients with reduced and preserved ejection fraction.  Recent trial programs and relevant international guidelines will be reviewed.  Apart from results on morbidity-mortality outcomes, quality of life results and exercise capacity changes, an additional emphasis will be on body composition changes. Regarding the latter the focus will be on alterations of skeletal and cardiac muscle mass, particularly when treatment with GLP-1RAs is considered. Clinical consequences and methods to prevent such developments are discussed.
