[1C13]Measurement of Cadminum reactivity worth at UTR-KINKI

The evaluation of burnable poison (BP) worth is crucial for the effective design of High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactors (HTGRs). This study investigates the reactivity worth of Cadmium (Cd) as BP material candidate. The measurements were conducted at the UTR-KINKI facility. This facility is light water-moderated and graphite-reflacted reactor system. In a previous study, reactivity measurements were conducted by inserting a single Cd plate into the central stringer of the UTR-KINKI, with varying Cd dimensions. In this study, we extend the analysis by loading two Cd-plates, each with dimensions of 30mm × 30mm × 1mm. The reactivity worth derived from the measurements shows good agreement with the results obtained from calculation using the Monte Carlo MVP code.
