【ハイライト講演】 秋吉帯のペルム紀付加体は石灰岩と珪質岩−砕屑岩と年代幅が異なり，石炭紀の珪質岩は極めて稀である．糸魚川地域の秋吉帯には暗赤褐色珪質岩の分布が知られているが，この地層の年代や海洋プレート層序での位置付けは不明であった．今回，正田智也氏はこれと周囲の岩相記載と放散虫年代と検討し，後期デボン紀から前期石炭紀の可能性を示唆した上で，海洋プレート層序での位置付けを提案するものである． ※ハイライト講演とは．．．

【ハイライト講演】黒瀬谷層はVicaryaで知られる日本海拡大期の海進を記録を残す地層であり，これまで種々研究が行われてきたが，東部と西部・陸成層と海成層との対比で若干混乱した状況にある．桐山美咲子氏は八尾地域の黒瀬谷層について堆積相をメインに踏査を行った結果，陸成層が海成層と複雑に指交していること，更に急激な深海化を示す層相変化を発見した．これは日本海形成初期の環境変化をビビッドに描像する契機となろう． ※ハイライト講演とは．．．

【ハイライト講演】 背弧域での鮮新・更新統の代表である西山層では微化石・古地磁気・テフラ層序などにより年代層序が編まれているが，放散虫はアップデートが必要な状態にある．特に暖流指標種を正確に認定し，これらを全体の層序の中に位置づけることが必要である．今回，福田智子氏は放散虫の群集解析を行い，No.2 G. inflata bedより下位の暖流流入を示唆する結果を得た． ※ハイライト講演とは．．．
